Configuring asset security

This tool allows Administrators and Creators with granted Asset Security permissions to configure the Asset Security feature. These users can set and dispatch asset security information for an asset so its device is aware of its security constraints. When the Security Mode is Active, you can set the device's Security Status to Disable or Normal Operation. When set to Disable, the asset will not operate or report until its Security Status is set to Normal Operation.

Note – By default, only the first Administrator user associated with the account when the account was created was granted Asset Security permissions. Only this Administrator can grant Asset Security permissions to other Administrators and Creators in the account. If you need Asset Security permissions, contact this Administrator or your Dealer.

  1. In the Asset Settings page, use the default setting of All device types or select a device type. When assets are displayed for All device types, the device types are displayed in a Device Type column. To quickly find an asset, use the Predictive Search feature. Select ID or S/N and enter characters in the Search field. The Predictive Search feature filters the assets to match the entered characters as you type.
  1. Select the asset, and then select Actions bar  / Configure.
  2. Select Asset Security.
  3. To enable Security Mode, select Active. The device's current status is shown.
  4. Update the device as needed.
  5. Select Save.

Note – The asset security status update is pending until a confirmation is received from the device. The pending status and time stamp are shown in a callout. The timing of the change implemented on-board the device will vary depending on availability of the device and communications.
